Metal Warehouse in Tallahassee Suffers Smoke Damage
Stored maintenance equipment and cleaning products that were stored in the corner of this metal construction warehouse in Tallahassee ignited from an errant cigarette. Luckily, containing little to be used as a fuel, the fire was quickly contained. Our SERVPRO® Fire & Smoke Damage Technician evaluated the situation, and first focused on setting up axial fans to remove most of the smoke from the high volume structure. A chemical wash was applied to the interior of the walls to remove the residue from the smoke and soot. The other end of the warehouse contained containers, not very well protected, of a family's belongings. Our technician, upon approval, removed some of the soft materials for off-site cleaning and odor removal. That evening he set up several ozone machines, since the space would be vacant, and eliminated the remainder of lingering smoke odors.
