What you are seeing is how a few of our inspectors and technicians were getting around Florida recently. When you advertise a 24 x 7 response team, people take you seriously. The events of the last two weeks saw dozens of families and business owners put us to the test. Our fellow residents of North Leon County could not wait for the roads to clear, so we grabbed the only transport that could keep up with a SERVPRO office, an airboat.

We could not put an entire team on one, but we did put smaller crews with enough gear to get started out on the water to customers. A small generator linked to a pump made sure we could remove standing water and get the drying out process started. These two and three-man crews also carried a water extraction wand to draw water out of carpets and floors to prevent rot and warping.

Packing in several containers of protective gear, cleaning agents, sponges, and rags meant these smaller teams could start cleaning structural and personal property within minutes of arriving on site. A quick response like this helped us save customers hundreds and perhaps even thousands of dollars at each job site.

Even in areas where we could not begin operations, we could (and did) provide an estimate for customers and their insurance companies. It got the ball rolling for business owners and residents around Tallahassee and FSU to start bringing in the funds they need to clean and rebuild.

Cleanup has always been a huge part of what we do, but this was beyond what many of our younger technicians had seen. It has been over a decade since a storm of this level hit our state. Fortunately, we have access to a nationwide support network of equipment and personnel. Thanks to our fellow franchise owners coming in to help, there is not a private home, apartment complex or commercial structure that we have not been able to help.
